Building a Corsair 13 Sailboat
Just started building the Corsair 13 sailboat. Have everything cut out and waiting on the epoxy/fiberglass kit to arrive. Would love to receive any tips that anyone has to offer as I begin to build my first boat.

So far the boat is progressing nicely. I hope to post a few photos tomorrow as i am not able to from my home computer. My first experience with the epoxy (resin , hardner & wood flour) was not too bad. Only made a mistake in that I allowed the epoxy to set on poster board, which I used to try to keep from having a mess. The poster board ended up stuck on the frames of the boat & I suffered a pretty good cut on my hand while trying to trim it with a utility knife. (so now have the blood and sweat in my project...so far no tears!!!!)
The weekend was very productive....I have the sides and all frames, including the transom together (temporarily). Tomorrow evening I plan to stitch the bottom panels in place. Then I will duck tape all the exterior seams and upright the boat (assuming a can round oup a couple of neighbors to help). Once the boat is upright again, I plan to remove the frames (except the transom) and epoxy the inner seams.

Well --tomorrow I am going to start assembling the 1/4" plywood long panels. These panels will be the two sides and the two bottom panels. In addition I plan to epoxy the two 3/8" transom panels together, which will make a 3/4" transom thick. I don't plan on using a motor but just in case I do, the thickness will be there. I also think the extra thickness will aid in support if I decode to put 2 handles on the upper corners of the transom. Not sure if I will do that yet--but I'm considering that thinking that it will help "manually" get the boat on/off a trailer. Will try to post a photo or two when I get the panels together.
Looking forward to seeing photos and reading about your build. Renn Tolman always suggested the first thing to build before the boat was 4 good sawhorses. Here's a link to a nice looking set.

Thanks Paul ! I actually have 4 saw horses but probably could use a couple more.
