KLM SongThai, by Songline Yachts Exported to the Kingdom of Thailand

KLM SongThai Main LoungeKLM SongThai was constructed in 2006 for the Swedish Investment Group Max Marine of Thailand. She is 29 meters with a 7.5 meter beam and is powered by a Hino V8 reconditioned truck engine. She is generating electrical power with a 45KVA Stamford Genset and is presently opeating out of Phuket, Thailand.

The objectives set by the owners of SongThai was to carry as many people as possible in a class of service above most of the boats we had constructed previously, but the end result was very good. Other than a slight leak in her roof and deck structures, the boat did meet the objectives set by her owners. This experience of leaking decks was a point that we "had" always accepted as a given by our traditional built boats, but after the demands of repair, we have set our sites on resolving this type of problem in future boats.

Traditionally, only Teak Planks make up our deck structure and with local caulking they have always leaked and we had written that service aspect as a task of our vessels crews. However all our new projects are to be constructed with two sheets of marine ply sealed with an adhesive/sealant, topped by a coat of lanolin and only then will we place our teak deck, sealed with Sikaflex deck compound. While this might seem to be old news for many builders, you will not believe what it takes to find any of this material here in Indonesia. Marine Ply is hard to find, Sikaflex is often out of stock as it is consumed by the Furniture Industry and lanolin is almost impossible unless imported from NZ or China, and the latter is frankly not trusted.

We are again proud of this boat and we feel she is an excellent example of about the right sized vessel for cruising Asian Waters.KLM SongThai, Phuket Thailand
