Latex Paint on Boats
Read an article that led me to this site about using Latex Paint on wooden boats. I Recently purchased a 40 yr old flat bottomed wooden skiff in great condition but needing a little TLC. After a few minor repairs and stripping several layers of paint and varnish, I'm ready to get into the finish. The question is not so much whether to use latex or not, (although I'd love to hear a few more testimonials) but if I do, what kind (deck enamel? exterior siding?) This is a boat that will sit 4-5 months a year in salt water off the coast of Maine. I'm skeptical to say the least but leaning more and more towards using the latex. Any thoughts?

I am not sure about below the waterline but I have used Rustolium that was formulated for painting and recoating outdoor furniture on one of my sailboats. It worked just as good as any of the best topside paints for 1/2 the cost. Clean up was easy also.
