What are the pros and cons of using AC exterior plywood for boat building?
I am starting a lapstrake rowing/sailing skiff and need to start thinking about sourcing some marine plywood, 1/2" 5 ply is what is recommended. I live in the sierra foothills and wondered where I might start looking? anyone have ideas?
I am about to start lofting a 15 foot Maine peapod from some John Gardner plans. I'm looking for some appropriate battens, but here in suburban Washington, DC they don't grow on trees (well, they do, but you get the idea). Can I use some of those 15 foot strips of 1" stuff I see at Home Depot, or should I try to drive to the hinterlands and find a good sawmill and get some real fir or spruce battens?
Gordon
You can find some great battens at Home Depot. If you're worried about getting some with a uniform curve, find some in the building trim section made out of that fake wood stuff they have. Those should work fine. Cheap too...

Great! thanks!
