Bateau Corsair 13 - March 7
Put off our weekly billiards game, so I got home at before 7PM and could not resist doing the side panel butt joints. This time instead of using bar clamps, I followed everyone's adviced and used something heavy - 4.5 HP of electric motors.

Again I stacked two joints one on top of the other for lack of space. Thinking I'd get a more even spread of forces, this time I put a piece of 3/8 plywood between the boards being joined. Each layer was of course lined with plastic wrap to prevent them from sticking to one another.
I don't have pictures of it but I found it very convenient to nail down panels being joined so they would not move as I put the clamping weights. This is the procedure I used: Nailed down one of the panels to be joined but left some of the nail's head sticking out; mixed epoxy glue on butt joint piece and applied it to the edge; positioned the other panel to align with the one nailed down and then also nail it down; spread epoxy on the panels; evened out the remaining epoxy on the butt piece and positioned it over the joint; pounded the butt piece a few times and then laid plastic over it; put a piece of plwood over the plastic and did the same to butt join the other side panel halves; again put a piece of plywood on top and finally 4 pieces of 2x4 over the whole thing then squished the stack with two old AC motors.
